Powerkix Martial Arts inspires its members to enrich and enhance their personal lives through martial arts. Students are encouraged to use their increased sense of confidence and strengthened will power to attain their personal goals and to be a positive force in their community.

We at Powerkix Martial Arts are dedicated and committed to our students and the community. Since inception, our academy has trained outstanding students and members of the community. In a profession where only the best survive, Powerkix Martial Arts is a leader.

Congratulations on your decision to learn Martial Arts. I would like to welcome you to our academy. As a new student there are several areas of Martial Arts you should become familiar with:

Etiquette
Bowing – Students bow towards the American and Korean Flags when they enter and exit the classroom. Students and instructors also bow to each other at the beginning and end of the lesson. Bowing is a form of respect in martial arts.
Black Belts – Black belts should be referred to as SIR or MAM or by their surname; such as Mr. Fladhammer or Mrs. Fladhammer.
Masters & Head Instructor - Students should always bow when they greet a Master and Mr. De Vries.

Equipment
Insurance require Powerkix Martial Arts students to wear gloves & footgear when sparring. Thus it will be REQUIRED from EVERY student to acquire these items from the school.

Korean Terminology
Portions of the class are conducted in Korean. New Students should learn these basic words:
Attention - Charyut
Bow - Kyungye
Ready Stance - Choon Bee
1 - Hana                                    6 - Yasut
2 - Dtool                                    7 - IL Goup
3 - Set                                       8 - Yudul
4 - Net                                       9 - Ah Houp
5 - Dasut                                  10 - Yul

Attendance Cards
Each student's attendance is tracked using an attendance card. Each card tracks what types of classes the student has participated in. The practice schedule is set up one month in advance. We practice a particular aspect each night (form, breaking, sparring, techniques, etc). The attendance cards allow us to track the classes each student has attended and which parts of training the students are working on and which ones they may need more time to work on.

Belts
Belts are used in Martial Arts to signify the progress of the student. There are ten belts before Black Belt; each of the belts must be earned. Students receive their white belt in class once they can successfully demonstrate the front kick, roundhouse kick and sidekick with each leg. For all of the belts students must pass a promotion test and pay a certification fee. Promotion tests are offered once a month and students test when they are ready.

"Thank you for your interest in Powerkix. Come watch a class and see what we have to teach!"
